World Champ again!

So along with one of our students, Lee Shulver, we went to the ICO (international combat organisation) World cup championships in Birmingham. The event was held over three days.
Not originally intending to do an extra category but last minute I entered the mat light continuous section for the over 40’s (masters), this was on the Friday and I managed to come away from that with a bronze medal.

On Saturday, I was to fight in the category I intended to. This was the Masters 85kg + ring continuous. I had three tough rounds against the opponent who had won our section the day before but this time I managed to do enough to take the gold and become a world champion once again, 23 years since I first got a world title. Thankfully I had my wife Zoe, kids Lemay & Caiden and in-laws there to cheer me on as well as Lee’s family.

Unfortunately Lee didn’t manage to get a medal but he did have some very good fighters in the two categories he entered. He still has plenty of time on his side to reach that gold.
Thanks to everyone who wished us well, trained with us and supported us on this journey. Mamba Martial Arts
